I just got my Acupuncture Spike Mat for pain relief https://amzn.to/2LjhVOS and I wanted to post a short review and some instructions on how to use it.

I have suffered from anxiety for most of my life. Walking, stretching and breathing exercises have helped me tremendously but I wanted something to help me take the edge off before I go to sleep.

First let me explain how it works.

The acupressure mat has plastic spikes, you simply put the mat down on a flat surface and lay down on it. You can use it with your shirt on or with bare skin, depending on your tolerance for discomfort.

When I first read the reviews on this mat I was skeptical. I did not think I would feel anything. But so many people swear by it that I thought for a small investment why not give it a try?

I want to say that this mat as exceeded my expectations.

For the first two minutes you will feel your skin being pinched and then the initial sensation is replaced by a feeling of warmth and then relief and calm. Its unlike anything that I have ever experienced. It reminded me of taking a strong pain killer.

I thought that maybe I was biased because I had read so many good things about the mat and I just really wanted for the mat to work, even though I dosed off as I was using it. So I asked my oldest son to try it out. He works out regularly and suffers from muscle soreness as a result. Upon using it for twenty minutes he said that he felt less muscle soreness and was quite relaxed.

To use the mat effectively

1. make sure to distribute your body weight over the mat so that you can gain the most benefit out of it.

2. be careful with any open wound or if you have sensitive or thin skin, the plastic spikes do pinch and can irritate any skin problems.

3. I put mine on my bed and used it at nighttime, I removed it before I fell asleep but I felt relaxed though the night.

4. After using the mat a few times I wanted direct contact with the spikes so I wear a bikini top and it works great. its fine to use it on bare skin as long as you don't have any open wounds or irritations.

5. Try to use it for at least twenty minutes to really get into a state of deep relaxation.

I would recommend this mat to anyone suffering from insomnia, muscle soreness or sciatica. I think serious medical issues should be dealt with by a physician or mental health care professional, but for minor aches and pains and to induce a sense of deep relaxation without pills I would say this mat is amazing! It is by far the best thing I have come across for deep relaxation.
